SWT Update February 2026

A team of four Eiger staff members joined around fifteen other volunteers and Surrey Wildlife Trust employees, at a nearby farm on Thursday 5th February, to lay down a new hedgerow. The laying of new hedgerows is part of the SWT initiative to join up wild spaces. In this case it was two ancient woodlands separated by a farmer’s field used for grazing sheep and cattle. The hedgerow, once established, will provide both a safe passage for small mammals and will be used for habitation. The new hedgerow will be around 200 yards long and took most of the day to plant using small single sprigs of various hedging plants.

Eiger was pleased to participate in this project and will be looking for more opportunities to volunteer in the near future.
